We take one week out of each year, Women of Aviation Week, to celebrate and highlight the importance of women in the aviation industry. Whether to recognize early pioneers who bravely broke down barriers, or celebrate more modern examples of women who have taken to the sky, Women of Aviation Week (March 3-9) is vital to highlighting the important role that females play in the aviation industry.
And there is one amazing local event that helps young women make their first foray in to flying: the Sky's No Limit - Girls Fly Too, which takes place this weekend at Langley Regional Airport (YLY).
Designed to help young women discover their passion for aviation, this special weekend event offers free first flights to female participants, who will also have the chance to meet civilian and non-civilian aviation leaders, ask questions and explore their unique aircraft. There are also fun games, interactive learning activities and the chance to look inside an aircraft engine and see how it works.
What a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday with the family! You, or somebody you know could take a free first flight and maybe discover a passion for aviation and a career path that could stay with you for a lifetime.
