Are you one of those naturally perky morning people? How about someone who was known for dancing long into the night? If you’re an early riser or a night owl, YVR is looking for Green Coat Volunteers from 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
If you or someone you know speaks a second language, can make a regular weekly commitment of 4 hours, and enjoys helping people -- come join our team of 330 exceptional volunteers.
We’re honoured to be served by our volunteer customer service ambassadors. Affectionately known as our ‘Green Coats’ because of their distinctive green jackets or vests, they have been a vital part of the YVR community since 1989. Our Green Coats can be found throughout the terminals with their warm smiles assisting travellers and visitors to ensure an exceptional YVR experience.
No need to be an airport expert! Volunteers receive classroom style training and mentoring from other members of the team to help you prepare for your role. As well, we provide a snazzy green uniform and complimentary parking. As the program is strictly volunteer, participants receive no salary or benefits other than the satisfaction of meeting new people and helping others.
The main responsibilities of a Green Coat volunteer include:
- interacting with the public and answering questions,
- wayfinding/directional assistance,
- providing information on services available in the airport, and
- acting as unofficial tour guides by providing information on the many tourist landmarks and attractions
