The Sea Island Heritage Society is hosting an open house on November 24, 2012, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Sea Island Community Centre in Richmond. Sea Island’s rich history will be highlighted through Sea Island memorabilia and historic photos gathered throughout the years that will be on display at the event.

Did you know that in 1939 Boeing built a factory on Sea Island which supplied the WWII effort with aircraft and amphibians?
Or that in 1943 there was a contest to name the “new subdivision” that is now called Burkeville? First prize for the winning name was $10.00 – a large amount of prize money for that time!
These are some of the cool little gems that you will find at the open house. The Society would love to receive other memorabilia and photos, so if you have some and would like to share them please bring them along.
