The last day of any vacation is usually spent attempting to pay for your airport cab ride and coffee with change. That’s because there is nothing more annoying than carrying around foreign coins in your pockets and purses for months afterwards, not being able to exchange or spend them.
So why not donate the change before you fly out of YVR? There are several coin collection kiosks located throughout the airport that allow you to donate your Canadian and foreign change. The donations are collected and benefit local charities such as the Salvation Army, Variety Club of B.C. and YVR Chaplaincy.
YVR’s coin collection program was implemented in 2008 and is managed by ICE Currency Exchange. Each month, ICE employees volunteer approximately 40 hours to collect, clean and roll the coins that have been donated by the travelling public.
