Cherry Blossom Festival at YVR

Sunday was a very special day at Larry Berg Flight Path Park as we welcomed the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival to YVR for the first time. The turnout was amazing, planes were soaring overhead, and sunny, cooperative weather made for a very photogenic afternoon. Perfect conditions for a photo contest! All you had to do was share your pictures on social media or email us your photos to enter. We received plenty of incredible submissions (see the full album here), but these three favourites each earned a prize.  Is your photo one of the pics below?

Third Place

We love this photo of a little one meeting cherry blossoms for the first time. Many families with young children joined in the festivities at what we hope becomes an annual event. Thanks to Yesenia for submitting!

Second Place

The name of the park is no misnomer, as it's located directly under the flight path on approach to the South runway. Westjet flew by to say hello, and Ksania captured the moment perfectly in this shot.

First Place

Submitted by Leighton Matthews, our first place photo captured the day perfectly. The Dash on final appears in the background, but the cherry blossoms and the girls with their YVR lunch boxes (free for the first 30 children) take pride of place in this great photo. Thanks for submitting, Leighton!
