Calling all YVR Plane Spotters

We have such a vibrant and active plane spotting community here at YVR who post incredible photos every day of aircraft taking off and landing at YVR.

To recognize the extraordinary photography at YVR we are holding a plane spotting photo contest for the months of August and September. We will pick a new winner every week for a cool YVR prize pack and a Grand Prize Winner at the very end for a special prize.

Submit your photos to any of our social channels, twitterFacebook or Instagram and use the hashtag #YVRspotters. Don't forget to try and include where you took the photo from so we can encourage more people to plane spot.

For first-time spotters, some awesome places to spot aircraft from around YVR include Larry Berg Flight Path Park, the South Terminal Viewing Platform, the gravel pile on the north side can work for arrivals, and even across the river at the end of River Road in Richmond is a decent place if you've got a good camera.

The only rules: planes have to be either arriving, departing or located at YVR, and the photos have to be current. No pictures taken last year, only photos taken and submitted same day will be considered for prizing.

There are a lot of regular contributors that already snap sweet pics, like @YvRPhtographer, @ztravica, @kenter55@PacificAirPhoto@trev_batsone on twitter, @planelovers15, @jameshackney1@charlieoscar98 and @rickybatallones on Instagram, and of course the entire gang in the YVR Spotters group on Facebook and Flickr. Share your pictures and maybe win a prize!

Happy spotting!

We have announced our Week 1 winner and Top 10 #YVRSpotters Pics.

Kind of difficult to submit photos taken the same day. How about allowing one week?

We appreciate the suggestion but we are going to keep it at 24 hours. Hopefully we still see some of your awesome pics!
