Today's post comes courtesy of Annalisa Pareja, one of our YVR School Program Tour Guides for the 2012 season. Enjoy!
The YVR School Tour Program – The Future Lands Here began its 2012 season this week. This is the fourth year that the Airport Authority has delivered this program for Grade 5 students in Metro Vancouver. This fun, informational tour engages students and encourages them to think about Vancouver International Airport as more than just a place to get on a plane. Our program highlights the importance of YVR to BC’s economic growth, the art and architecture at YVR, environment and sustainability initiatives, and includes a trip to YVR’s Public Observation Area.
I was lucky enough to be a part of the 2011 School Program and am looking forward to meeting all of the students coming in 2012. There are some new features this year, including a special behind-the-scenes video. The video shows some of the unique jobs and activities that help ensure the safety of all our travellers and employees. Additionally, each student receives a passport, chock-full of info they will use along their YVR journey.
The tours are led by me and two other students from Simon Fraser University. Breanna Kato and Jake Sobrepena will share their experiences in the weeks to come.
Thanks, Annalisa
