Vancouver Airport Authority is reaching out to its local community by attending 15 festivals, large and small, in neighborhoods around the Lower Mainland.
YVR has offered many first over the years. First airport in Canada to offer free wifi, first to launch Automated Passport Control, and now we've added another innovative first to the list by teaming up with Fairmont Vancouver Airport for Afternoon Tea Express.
With the popularity of our Canada from the Air promotion, we have been receving alot of incredible photo submissions from across the country. But the nature of the contest restricts the content being submitted. Yes, we get to see the sprawling, wondrous landscape of Canada from 1,000 feet and wingtips aplenty, but the birds themselves are taking a backseat to breathtaking scenery.

Constructed by the federal goverment in 1943 as part of the wartime effort to serve as housing for employees of the nearby Boeing manufacturing plant, Burkeville earned its moniker through a naming competition by Boeing employees. The competition resulted in the selection of Burkeville as a name, after the president of Boeing Canada at the time, Stanley Burke.

The theme for this year's Tourism Richmond Service Awards was Up-Up and Away - Taking Service to New Heights, so maybe it was fitting that Vancouver Airport Authority came away with Partner of the Year at the annual gala to recognize great service in the industry, held Wednesday at the River Rock.
