I am proud to announce that YVR has just been named Best Airport in North America for a record 10 years in a row at the World Skytrax Airport Awards! This incredible achievement demonstrates that our approach to customer care resonates with our passengers. And it would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the 24,000 people who work on Sea Island, every day.
When people think of YVR they invariably think of airplanes and air travel. And yes, core to our business is moving people, bags and cargo safely and efficiently. But YVR is so much more than that. YVR is the hard-working facilities folks keeping the terminal clean and safe. YVR is the baggage handlers and all the people behind the scenes making sure luggage gets to its final destination. YVR is our Green Coats, who donate their time to make sure people visiting Canada are greeted with a warm smile and a helping hand. YVR is the Musqueam people stewarding this land towards a shared bright future. YVR is everyone who makes Sea Island a special place—the pilots, air traffic controllers, refuellers, security patrollers and escorts, CATSA staff, wildlife control, cargo forwarders, cleaners, Canada and US Customs and Immigration, landscapers, and much more.
YVR team—the work you do is incredibly important. Sometimes it might be difficult to see how your daily tasks are a part of the bigger picture, but let me assure you that every single person working at YVR contributes to our success. Every smile is another passenger that will fly through our airport, adding to our success and supporting local communities.
To our passengers, partners and communities, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to grow. Not only are we experiencing strong growth, but we are also undertaking multiple expansion projects to improve the airport for everyone. I understand that this can have an impact on you, but I want to assure you it will result in an even better YVR. And to our Sea Island team—I want you to know that we are going to do everything we can in the future to keep recognizing your contributions and make YVR an even better place to work and make a difference.
