This just in—Air Canada has announced a string of new services to the US for 2017, further connecting YVR with a key growth market. This includes new year-round service from YVR to Denver and the conversion of its Vancouver-Phoenix service to year-round—starting in Spring 2017.
These new and expanded services add to an impressive couple of years for Air Canada. Since 2015, the airline has introduced eight new services to YVR including Osaka, Cancun, San Jose, San Diego, Chicago, Dublin, Brisbane and Delhi. This growth is set to continue in 2017 with five new destinations scheduled to launch including Taipei, Nagoya, Frankfurt, London Gatwick Dallas and Denver.
2016 has been a record-breaking year for passenger growth, with YVR welcoming over 18.8 million passengers between January to October—a growth rate of 9.5 per cent. This puts us on track to reach 22 million passengers by year-end. And this increase is largely the result of Air Canada’s expansion of its transpacific hub at YVR, which represents 50 per cent of our passengers, serving over 55 destinations worldwide.
