Summer means a lot of things at YVR: More flights, more passengers, more sunny days and of course, YVR Take-Off Fridays!
Each Friday, from July 3 to August 28, the terminal will come alive with music, entertainment and family-friendly activities. From 9 a.m.-3 p.m., there will be local DJs and live musicians as well as caricaturists, balloon artists, mascots, face painting and so much more.
You can try delicious food samples and take advantage of great deals from airport shops and restaurants. The Vancouver Aquarium, Science World, and The Vancouver Canadians will also be providing on-site activities on select days.
Aviation buffs can stop by the Public Observation Area for interactive displays, quizzes and behind the scenes videos or take a tour to learn about YVR’s history, art and operations.
We invite you to participate in its 3rd annual Paper Airplane Competition taking place on July 17. Aviation fans of all ages are invited to test their paper airplane making skills while YVR Ambassadors offer tips on the best folding techniques. Twenty competitors will be drawn at random to launch their design down a 32-foot carpet runway while doing their best pilot impressions in aviator hats and sunglasses. Competitors will be judged on the longest distance, creativity and best aerial acrobatics. Prizes will be awarded for the top three flights.
