Summer Runway Maintenance and RESAs at YVR

YVR is currently performing annual maintenance on the South Runway, and we want to keep the public informed of our runway operating schedule for the summer of 2015.

YVR is currently performing our annual summer runway maintenance on the South Runway focused on constructing Runway End Safety Areas (RESAs), and we want to keep the public informed of our runway operating schedule for the summer of 2015.

May 19 – June 30, 2015; 7 nights per week; 9:00 p.m. -7:00 a.m.

The North Runway will be used for departures and arrivals 7 nights per week.

July 1- August 31, 2015; 5 nights per week (Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sun); 9:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

The North Runway will be used for departures 5 nights per week (as above) and arrivals 7 nights per week. We appreciate your support as we continue to maintain the highest safety standards at YVR.

This year, summer runway maintenance is a bit different because we are beginning construction of Runway End Safety Areas on the South Airfield. RESAs are specialized areas at the end of a runway that protect passengers and reduce the severity of damage to an aircraft in the unlikely event of an overrun or undershoot. Nighttime construction of RESAs on the South Runway began last week (May 19).

More information on Runway End Safety Area Construction and Summer Runway Operations is available at YVR.ca/RESA or through RESAInfo@yvr.ca or phone 604.276-6772.
