Great news for YVR’s BorderXpress self-service border solution today. CAPA Centre for Aviation, the aviation industry’s leading market intelligence and analysis organization, named YVR’s own BorderXpress the 2015 Airport Innovation of the Year.
YVR’s BorderXpress kiosks have been helping passengers safely and quickly clear the border at airports across North America and the Caribbean since May 2013. Since its unveiling at YVR, more than 700 kiosks have been implemented at 25 locations. As of June 1, more than 50 million passengers have used BorderXpress!
A couple of factors make this win significant for YVR. First, BorderXpress was selected by an industry panel independently and without an application process. Second, the award is a testament to YVR’s culture of innovation. It’s one of our core values and the way we do business.
By the way, here are the latest facts and stats on BorderXpress, including both Automated Border Clearance kiosks (Canadian version) and Automated Passport Control kiosks (U.S. version):
• 700-plus kiosks are in use around the world at 25 locations – including the world’s busiest airport (Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International) and only sea port with APC (Port Metro Vancouver)
• 50 million passengers have used our technology since it debuted at YVR in May 2013!
(By way of a relevant comparison, that’s almost ten times the population of Finland!)
Up next for BorderXpress: a release of Phase 4 technology, including expanded visa processing and facial recognition capability, as well as sales pitches of the global version of BorderXpress to interested international airports. Our homegrown solution has hit the big time!
