Visitors to YVR can enjoy a couple of all-new interactive exhibits recently installed in the Public Observation Area, on Level 4 of the Domestic Terminal.
A touch-screen interactive map allows visitors to explore all of YVR’s 100-plus non-stop destinations, noting each location’s distance in kilometres from YVR and average flight time, airspeed and elevation. The map can be sorted by air carrier or region, and allows browsers to pinch and zoom in on their location of choice. Beautiful images of YVR’s destinations round out the experience and offer a great way to learn more about YVR’s connections from B.C. to the world.
Visitors can also send family and friends a personalized YVR postcard from the new e-postcard kiosk. Choose your favourite image from a selection of four options, write a quick note and smile for the camera. The completed electronic postcard is sent by email to a recipient of choice. More information about YVR and its retailers, along with a downloadable coupon, is also available at this kiosk.
Regular visitors to the Observation Area will have seen that its floor-to-ceiling windows are lined with information panels – also known as reader rails. These rails provide snapshots of the airport’s history on Sea Island, the various types of aircraft that fly to and from YVR, and the role YVR plays in the provincial economy. Visitors whose language of choice is not English can now use their mobile devices to scan new QR codes on the panels, which link to this content in French and Simplified Chinese.
Leave a few extra minutes to explore YVR’s Observation Area before your next flight.
