Vancouver Airport Authority’s brand new Striker 4500 aircraft rescue vehicle made its debut at the 2012 Rogers Santa Claus Parade and wowed the 300,000 spectators who lined the streets of downtown Vancouver on December 2. Canadian 2012 Olympic and Paralympic athletes acted as Grand Marshals for this year’s parade and accompanied YVR on the float. The athletes donned red Team Canada gear and helped usher in Santa Claus and the parade.
Airport Authority employees, Green Coat Volunteers and airport family and friends accompanied the Striker, wearing green jackets and handing out blue candy canes and reflective safety stickers to the crowd that lined West Georgia and Howe Street. Although the morning began with some dark skies, the rain held off and the sun emerged for the parade.
The Rogers Santa Claus Parade is the single largest annual event in support of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. The Airport Authority has been proud to support this iconic holiday event since its inception.
