YVR’s School Program gives hundreds of Grade 5 students a behind-the-scenes look at the world of aviation at YVR. Now in full swing for its fourth year, classes from all over Metro Vancouver spend a day at YVR, learning about everything from the Airport Authority’s incredible First Nations art collection to how to pack a carry-on bag.
Tour guides escort students through the public areas of the airport, highlighting such features as the Flight Information Display - or FIDS – boards, the green wall outside of the YVR Canada Line station, and even
YVR’s waste and recycling bins. And no airport tour would be complete without a trip to YVR’s Public Observation Area, where the students get a bird’s-eye view of a bustling airfield, including taxiing aircraft, airside vehicles and baggage loading and unloading.
