As a community-driven organization, Vancouver Airport Authority is committed to being open and honest with our communities, our employees, our partners and our stakeholders. Some 17 million people travel through the airport every year, while another 23,600 come to work here every day – so it’s important that we remain accountable and transparent.
We report to the community in a number of ways, including through our strategic and master plans, as well as through presentations and annual reports. Once a year we also host an Annual Public Meeting – which will take place this year on Thursday, May 10 in YVR’s East Concourse – to update you on our activities from the past year and plans for the year ahead, as well as to share details of the 2011 Annual Report and financial statements.
We accomplished a lot in 2011. We celebrated our 80th anniversary. We continued our work to build YVR as a premier gateway to the Asia-Pacific. We launched a storytelling campaign that took the public behind the scenes at our airport. And in December we completed construction of Canada’s first Ground Run-up Enclosure to reduce noise for our neighbours.
And we’ve got big plans for the future to build a better airport for you and for British Columbia.
I encourage everyone to attend this year’s meeting, which begins at 3:30 PM, and to ask questions. If you can’t make it in person, a live stream of the meeting will be available on www.yvr.ca and, as always, our Annual Report will be available online.
