Japan Airlines, US Airways and Pacific Coastal Airlines were recognized recently for their noise management practices as part of Vancouver Airport Authority’s 6th annual 2010 Fly Quiet Awards.
Presented April 27 at the YVR Chief Pilot’s meeting, the Fly Quiet Awards recognized operators in three categories: wide-body jet (Japan Airlines), narrow-body jet (US Airways) and propeller/rotary wing aircraft (Pacific Coastal Airlines).
The awards are designed to promote positive noise management practices and good airmanship, and spark friendly competition amongst operators. Winners are chosen based on their annual operations noise level and good standing with regards to YVR’s Noise Abatement Procedures.
Vancouver Airport Authority is committed to managing airport noise, while balancing the community’s need for safe, convenient 24-hour air travel with enjoyable urban living. For more information, visit www.yvr.ca.
